Lavery, Oscar Serrano<\/em><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"article-header__excerpt\"><strong>Global patterns and drivers of seagrass biomass, net primary production and meadow structure<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Researchers from G3ECA have participated in a global study revealing that the biomass and net primary productivity of seagrass meadows are twice as high as previously estimated. The study, which analyses data from 11 genera of marine phanerogams collected between 1975 and 2024, identifies global patterns of growth and structure, as well as the environmental factors driving them. The results also show how different species of marine phanerogams adapt to their local environments \u2014 from temperature to nutrients \u2014 highlighting their extraordinary resilience.
