{"id":7936,"date":"2018-01-26T12:08:13","date_gmt":"2018-01-26T11:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/game-csic.comacaba-sumilen-sigue-blue-carbon\/"},"modified":"2018-04-04T12:58:29","modified_gmt":"2018-04-04T11:58:29","slug":"acaba-sumilen-sigue-blue-carbon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/game-csic.com\/en\/acaba-sumilen-sigue-blue-carbon\/","title":{"rendered":"SUMILEN ends, Blue Carbon continues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The project <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/game-csic.comen\/proyectos\/sumilen\/\">SUMILEN<\/a><\/strong> funded by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mineco.gob.es\/portal\/site\/mineco\/\">Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness<\/a>, carried out by the marine microphyte ecology group (GAME), was completed in December 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Among its objectives were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assessing the potential of seagrass meadows as carbon sinks<\/li>\n<li>Testing new sampling techniques in collaboration with SMEs<\/li>\n<li>Characterise the geochemical processes that allow the formation of mats beneath the seagrass meadows.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After 4 years of research and two oceanographic campaigns, it has served as the basis for the European project.<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/life-bluenatura.eu\/en\/home\/\">Life Blue Natura<\/a><\/strong> Intended to transfer this knowledge to the political sphere where measures can be taken for the conservation of these habitats.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The SUMILEN project, funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and carried out by the marine microphyte ecology group (GAME), concluded in December 2017.
