{"id":8039,"date":"2018-06-05T12:38:05","date_gmt":"2018-06-05T11:38:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/game-csic.com?p=8039\/"},"modified":"2018-06-06T12:38:51","modified_gmt":"2018-06-06T11:38:51","slug":"gloria-misson-phd-student-from-the-university-of-trieste-italy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/game-csic.com\/eu\/gloria-misson-phd-student-from-the-university-of-trieste-italy\/","title":{"rendered":"Gloria Misson, PhD student from the University of Trieste (Italy)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/game-csic.commiembros\/gloria-misson\/\">Gloria Misson<\/a> has been in CEAB-CSIC working with GAME members for the past 3 months.\u00a0 She has been learning advanced techniques for seagrass sediment cores analysis and developing statistical techiques to analyse time series data from the Balearic Islands.<\/p>\n<p>Her PhD project proposes experimental models to assess seagrass meadows and seagrass wrack decomposition dynamics in both controlled conditions and experimental fields in North-East Italy, with focus on CO<sub>2<\/sub> and CH<sub>4<\/sub> emissions, as a function of temperature, salinity, water supply and physical properties.<\/p>\n<p>The experiment models include the following activities:<br \/>\n&#8211; Understand the role of seagrass and sediment features in carbon sequestration; &#8211; Describe the seagrass deposition dynamics and characterize the plant biomass;\u00a0&#8211; Measure the CO\u2082 efflux from litter decomposition using Uniud-SR, an automatic open-top chamber \u00a0\u00a0system (laboratory experiment) and litter bags (field experiment);\u00a0&#8211; Assess the CH<sub>4<\/sub> efflux from the litter materials decomposing in anaerobic conditions in a laboratory scale set-up.<\/p>\n<p>Gloria, we hope you spent a nice time here.
