El carbono azul hace referencia al CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0que es capturado por los ecosistemas costeros, b\u00e1sicamente praderas marinas, manglares y marismas. Aunque cubren menos del 2% de la superficie del mar, entierran hasta el 50% del carbono marino en sus sedimentos y lo pueden retener durante milenios.
