Estas poden superar o metro de lonxitude. O internodo n\u00ba 1 \u00e9 o m\u00e1is recente, e o n\u00ba 9 o m\u00e1is antigo Autora: Elena D\u00edaz Almela.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em>Posidonia<\/em> ten un crecemento clonal, onde a unidade de repetici\u00f3n \u00e9 o feixe ou talo, formado por un feixe de follas, un rizoma e, polo menos, unha ra\u00edz.<\/p>\n<p>Existen v\u00e1stagos de crecemento horizontal, tam\u00e9n chamados \u00e1pices, os cales colonizan o substrato, divid\u00edndose varias veces ao ano, e medrando anualmente entre 1 e 10 cm. Os seus entren\u00f3s poden medir m\u00e1is de 1 cent\u00edmetro.<\/p>\n<p>Pero a maior\u00eda dos rebentos te\u00f1en crecemento vertical. Buscando a luz evitan o enterramento. Os rebentos verticais, con entren\u00f3s de 1 ou 2 mil\u00edmetros (Fig. 2), non adoitan medrar m\u00e1is de 1 cm ao ano, salvo cando reaccionan a un enterramento intenso, ent\u00f3n poden medrar ata 4 cm ao ano.<\/p>\n<p>A planta compensa a s\u00faa gran lentitude de crecemento con brotes terriblemente lonxevos, que poden superar os 60 anos. Isto, unido ao tama\u00f1o dalg\u00fans clones, suxire que cada planta no seu conxunto pode vivir s\u00e9culos ou milenios, e alg\u00fans estiman que entre decenas e centos de miles de anos, o que a converte na especie co\u00f1ecida m\u00e1is lonxeva do planeta.<\/p>\n<p>A acumulaci\u00f3n de sedimentos e o lento crecemento vertical da planta fan que a pradeira de <em>Posidonia<\/em> eleve ao longo de milenios, formando unha especie de arrecife chamado \u00abmata\u00bb (Fig. 4), con unhas propiedades ambientais moi interesantes, como veremos.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_7852\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7852\" style=\"width: 611px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7852 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/game-csic.comwp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/4.-Formaci\u00f3n-de-la-mata-de-Posidonia-orig.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"611\" height=\"359\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7852\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fig. 4. Nalg\u00fans anos, no outono, as pradeiras florecen.
