The founder of Tidal Moon, Michael Wear, receives the Australian Prime Minister's Award
From GAME we want to congratulate Michael Wear, founder of Tidal Moon, for having been recognised with the Primer Ministro’s Prize for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Knowledge Systems, an award that highlights the contribution of indigenous knowledge systems to scientific advancement and environmental sustainability.
Michael's candidacy was submitted by the Dr Óscar Serrano, together with the collaboration of Jonathan Bloch, Siriana Nair, Luke Twomey and Brett Molony. The Dr Òscar Serrano works closely with Michael Wear in the project of Restoration of the seagrass meadows of Shark Bay (Gutharraguda), the largest seagrass ecosystem in the world and a globally significant blue carbon sink.
The work of Tidal Moon integrate traditional wisdom and contemporary science to restore degraded ecosystems, create opportunities for indigenous communities, and promote marine conservation with a culturally rooted approach.
For GAME, it is an honour to collaborate on the restoration of Shark Bay alongside Tidal Moon and to celebrate this well-deserved recognition of the work of Michael and his team.
