GAME is part of the advisory committee of the European project C-BLUES.

The Dr Miguel Ángel Mateo, researcher at CEAB-CSIC and of GAME, is part of the external scientific advisory committee of the ambitious project C-BLUES, an international initiative that seeks to give relevance to the Blue Carbon within the framework of global strategies against climate change.

The Blue Carbon Ecosystems (BCE) —such as seagrass meadows, mangroves, or salt marshes— are true lungs of the planet. They capture and store large amounts of CO₂. In their sediments, helping to slow global warming. However, they are still not fully recognised in international policies and emissions accounting.

That's where it comes into play. C-BLUES, a project funded by Horizon Europe within the framework of the collaboration EU-China, which seeks to improve knowledge about these ecosystems, standardise measurement methodologies and promote their inclusion in national greenhouse gas inventories of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

From the advisory committee, Miguel Ángel Mateo He brings his extensive experience in marine ecology and blue carbon, strengthening the connection between science, management, and climate policies.
