About me

Candela Marco-Méndez (San Sebastián, 1982) holds a degree in Marine Sciences from the University of Vigo (2007). She completed a Master's in Mediterranean Ecosystem Analysis (2008-2009) and a PhD in Marine Sciences and Applied Biology (2009-2015) at the University of Alicante. During this time, she collaborated with and undertook several stays at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab (Alabama, USA) with Kenneth Heck and Just Cebrián. She completed a postdoctoral stay at the Centre for Advanced Studies of Blanes (CEAB), with the Aquatic Macrophyte Ecology Group (GAME), and later with the Benthic Ecosystem Functioning Group. Her research lines are related to marine ecology, herbivory, marine biology, and anthropogenic impacts on Mediterranean seagrass meadows.Oceanic Posidonia, Cymodocea nodosa) and the Gulf of Mexico (Thalassia testudinum, Halodule wrightii and other species), tropicalisation, blue carbon, paleoecology and climate change.

Hobbies

Diving, hiking, cycling, the sea, nature. Any outdoor activity in the company of my little dog Mero. Travelling and exploring oceans. Music, cinema, reading, playing the guitar, practising some sport…
