About me
Antonio Riontino is an Italian marine ecologist and a doctoral student in the Department of Biosciences, Biotechnology and Environment (DBBA) at the University of Bari “Aldo Moro”His research focuses on ecological studies, habitat mapping, and citizen science applied to Posidonia oceanica meadows, with the aim of improving knowledge and supporting the conservation of Mediterranean biodiversity.
He received a mobility scholarship from the Leonardo da Vinci Programme – LDP on European environmental and energy policies and was the scientific coordinator of the "Posidonia Festival AMP Isole Tremiti – 2022 Edition", an event dedicated to raising awareness and promoting marine ecosystems. He has also collaborated with companies specialising in scientific outreach and project design, gaining experience in biodiversity monitoring and environmental communication.

Project in the GAME
Antonio is a doctoral student who collaborates with the GAME group to advance applications of habitat mapping and remote sensing dedicated to the conservation of seagrass meadows. His research focuses on assessing the conservation status of the Posidonia oceanica, with a special interest in comparative studies between the coastal systems of Catalonia and Puglia. His work aims to refine high-resolution sampling methodologies, contributing to a more accurate understanding of these ecosystems on a small scale.
