About me
After obtaining her degree in Biology in Jena (Germany), Selma is currently studying Marine Environmental Sciences at the University of Oldenburg (Germany). She also completed her training to become a European scientific diver there in 2024.
He completed a three-month internship at the AWI Scientific Diving Centre in Helgoland before joining GAME for an ERASMUS+ internship and continuing with his master's thesis.
Under the supervision of Dr Nicole Foster, she is researching the assessment of biodiversity in seagrass meadows using environmental DNA.
Hobbies
Snorkelling, diving, drawing, reading, hiking, swimming, yoga, dancing, crafts, running, underwater photography.
Scientific interests
Effects of anthropogenic pressures on marine ecosystems, conservation biology efforts, molecular ecology, biodiversity assessment with the help of environmental DNA, the intersection between science and society, habitat-forming marine organisms such as seagrass meadows or seaweed forests.
