About me

Born in Málaga in 1992, she won a predoctoral scholarship at the CEAB-CSIC. She is currently undertaking her doctoral studies at the Centre for Advanced Studies of Blanes (CEAB). Her research focuses on deciphering the environmental information contained in Posidonia oceanica meadows, which serve as a valuable repository of paleo-ecological information about the ecosystem, both marine and adjacent terrestrial. Her work centres on the study of sediment records from National Parks in Spain (Cabrera and the Atlantic Islands). Carmen holds a degree in Environmental Sciences (University of Málaga) and a master's in Ecology, Management and Environmental Restoration (University of Barcelona, 2014).

Scientific interests

Paleoecology in coastal environments, coastal conservation, the carbon cycle, and climate change.

Hobbies

Hiking, painting, and doing crafts.

About me

Carmen (Málaga, 1992) has recently been awarded a predoctoral grant at CEAB-CSIC. Her PhD focuses on disentangling the environmental information contained in the mat of P. oceanica, which is a valuable repository of palaeoecological information about the seagrass ecosystem and adjacent terrestrial and marine ecosystems. She is currently studying the sedimentary records from the National Insular Spanish Parks of Cabrera and the Galician Atlantic Islands. Carmen holds an MSc in Ecology, Environmental Management and Restoration (2014, University of Barcelona, Spain). The title of her Master’s thesis was “The Posidonia oceanica (L. Delile) mat archive: a tool for palaeoecological studies”.
